  1. First Orthopaedic Oncologist in the world to perform 2200 cases of Custom Mega Prosthetic Replacement for Bone Tumours over a period of 30 years (1988 – 2018).

  2. First Indian to receive the Appreciation Award of Excellence in the field of Orthopaedic Oncology from the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (2004) and the Korean Orthopaedic Association (2006).

  3. First Indian to be the President of Asia Pacific Musculoskeletal Tumour Society (2000 – 2002).

  4. First Indian to be selected for the British Orthopaedic Association Wishbone Trust Award to visit Orthopaedic Oncology Centres in United Kingdom (1998).

National

  1. First Indian to receive 3 National Awards from the President of India Shri A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (2002 – 2007)

    • Dr. B. C. Roy National Award by the Medical Council of India (2004).

    • National Award for Welfare of the Disabled by the Govt. of India (2005).

    • Padma Shri Award by the President of India (2007)

  2. First Indian to become the President of Indian Orthopaedic Association (2006) in the footsteps of his Academic and Genetic Father Prof. M.Natarajan (1968).

State

  1. First Doctor in T.N. Medical Service to be decorated with the Hon. Doctorate of Science by the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (2007).

  2. First Doctor in State Medical Service to be honoured with the Best Doctor Award by the Govt. of Tamilnadu (2004).

  3. First Doctor in the State Medical Service to be honored with Tamil Nadu Scientists Award by the State Council for Science and Technology (1998).

  4. First Doctor in the Tamilnadu Medical Service to be the Head of the Dept. of Orthopaedics, Govt. General Hospital (2005 - 2009) in the footsteps of his Father Prof. M.Natarajan who held this prestige and post for 17 years from (1957 – 1976).

  5. First Orthopaedic Surgeon in the State to be President of Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association (2000) in the footsteps of his beloved Father Prof. M.Natarajan (1969 -70)
